Investing into our people and our communities is part of the OuterSpace Landscapes business ethos. When you combine these activities with a fun filled team building afternoon that culminated in a massive donation to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and you have a win – win – win.
OuterSpace Landscapes went up against sister company Tuatara Structures in the Mighty Domination Challenge – sadly the title was taken by Tuatara Structures.
Lunch time, Friday 8 December and cries of ‘Let the battle begin’ rang out!
And what a battle it was as company went against company in a series of fun challenges. The pinnacle of the day was building a mini golf course using canned and packet food, which was later donated to the Salvation Army.
Each team member generously donated products to the activities, with both companies adding in hundreds of dollars of cans and boxed items. Under the blazing 31-degree sun, the ‘canstruction’ required some serious design consideration under tight time frames. The final judging and trial of the golf hole was done by Major Des Buckner of the Christchurch Salvation Army. This Christmas season, more than 17,000 families in crisis are expected to seek help from The Salvation Army for food support, budgeting, counselling, education and accommodation assistance.
In the lead up to the charity aspect of the day’s proceedings, the two companies broke into teams to work on a series of activities that required various levels of communication, collaboration, strategic problem solving, and last but not least, FUN! Check out the photos!
